Lake Cascade State Park is nestled in the majestic mountains of central Idaho approximately 75 miles north of Boise on State Highway 55. This large park provides diverse and exciting recreational opportunities throughout all four seasons.
Popular for all types of boating, prevailing winds on the water make it especially well suited for sailing and windsurfing. Rainbow trout, Coho salmon, small mouth bass and perch can be caught from the shore or by boat in the summer or through the ice in the winter.

Old man winter is just around the corner and Jack Frost is nipping at our doors. The night temperatures range from the mid teens to the upper 20’s. Daytime temperatures are still pleasant from the mid 50’s to the mid 60’s. The Tamarack tree needles have all turned. Fishing along the Lake Cascade’s banks is starting to pickup. Swans, Canadian and Snow Geese, Ducks, and Loons are stopping in for a rest before they head south for their winter homes. Bald Eagles and other Raptors are in abundance along the lake and in the meadows around the Cascade Area. Squirrels and Chipmunks are busy gathering food for their winter food caches. Hiking and biking offer great opportunities to see wildlife in this fall season.

General Park Information
The dispersed campgrounds known as Van Wyck Central and Van Wyck North were closed for the season on the afternoon of May 26th, 2008. The closure will be in effect for the entire season. We anticipate the new campground will be available for use in 2009. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated.
Improvements have begun at the Sugarloaf Campground and Boat Ramp areas as contractors are installing an automatic irrigation system which necessitates the CLOSURE of the SUGARLOAF CAMPGROUND for the remainder of the season. To accommodate the interests of fishermen, the Park has in effect a PARTIAL CLOSURE at the SUGARLOAF BOAT RAMP—it will be open for use on Saturdays and Sundays during the project but closed Monday through Friday.
Lake Cascade State Park offers two group camping opportunities including a group camp and the Osprey Point group yurt complex, 175 individual campsites in 6 developed campgrounds, dispersed camping areas with primitive camping, several day use areas, and 6 boat launch ramps. The various campgrounds and facilities of the park are dispersed around the lake’s forty-one square miles of surface water and 86 miles of shoreline. The business office for the park is located in the city of Cascade near the intersection of Dam Road and Lakeshore Drive.
