Seasonal Employment

Why spend the summer indoors when you can be outside in a beautiful state park?  Idaho State Parks offers a variety of seasonal employment opportunities.

As a seasonal staff  member there are a variety of tasks to perform; maintenance duties to include building and grounds maintenance, general cleaning, minor repair, mowing, trimming and irrigation. You may find yourself working on interpretive programs and public relations which involves developing and presenting campground programs, junior ranger programs, guided hikes, and camp fire talks. Working at the entrance station of a park taking money or answering questions may fill your day.  As a seasoanl staff member your work hours vary and you will find your self working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

General Information
: The length of employment differs among the parks, but typically lasts 15 weeks from the latter part of May to the first part of September.  However, there are jobs that begin as early as March and may last into November. Return to school needs are also a determining factor.  If you have any questions, please contact the specific park.

Requirements: You should be able to perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning rest rooms, operate a variety of equipment, follow written and oral instructions, perform moderately heavy labor, work under adverse weather conditions, and deal appropriately and tactfully with others. Some positions require a valid drivers license, standard First-Aid and CPR certifications. You may also be required to purchase and wear a uniform.
